Hello Folks!
This morning at 8:25 am, we conducted a "Clear the Hall; Secure the Building Drill" at WS. The children knew in advance that we were going to have a drill, they just didn't know when the drill would be.
The entire school was in lock down and quiet as can be within seconds of the command announcement. We checked every door, looking for entry points, to no avail. No child could be seen or heard... not one! Our kids were locked in and SAFE! After the "All Clear" call, the teachers debriefed the situation with their children to reassure them and praise them for using their good safety tools.
The Inhouse Emergency Preparedness Team also met to debrief the situation. WS is a safe and happy school and we are very proud of that fact!
The fire and lock drills are required by state law. For the rest of this year, we will not be announcing drills in advance. We feel that we have practiced enough and our students know exactly what to do when they hear the commands.
