With the inclement weather today, we are seeing some substantial traffic back-ups and delays on our roadways, particularly the Interstates. While delays can be frustrating, we are reminding people to avoid using the U-Turns on the interstate.
Using a U-turn is not only illegal, it is VERY DANGEROUS exiting or entering the flow of traffic at interstate speeds. In the winter weather we are experiencing, visibility is limited and stopping distances are increased; which greatly increases the chances for a serious crash.
Unauthorized use of highway U-turns is a two point violation, with a fine of $162.00.
