VMEA District VI Winter Music Festival
Congratulations to Daniel Dexter, Christina Gregory, Gideon Spikes, Skylar Swan, and Olivia Turney for their phenomenal performances at the VMEA District VI Winter Music Festival.  These five students -- the ONLY 5 selected from the entire Supervisory Union -- began working to prepare their audition music as early as last spring.  On Friday and Saturday, they worked for many long hours with conductor Jim Derby and the other members of the District Concert Band.  The concert on February 8 was AMAZING!  It's not often that 7th graders have the dedication to work towards a goal for so long...  but OURS do!  Congratulations to all of them!

April 5, 2014 Penny Sale at WS
Dear WS 7th Grade Parents,
We are busy getting ready for the April 5th Penny Sale, sponsored by PTA, in an effort to help our 7th graders raise money for their 8th grade class trip to Boston!  Reminder:  Please do not approach businesses for a donation unless they have been approved FIRST by the PTA.  It is very important to use the contact list phone numbers prior to asking for a donation from a business. Please check the donation list at the school weekly; BJ will always have an updated list! If you have any questions, please call Kelly O'Brien at 263-5373.  Also, please let Kelly or BJ know if there is a business that wants to make a donation, but is not on the list.
Thanks so much,
WS PTA

Weathersfield School Science Fair
Parents, friends and community members are invited to the Annual Weathersfield School Science Fair which will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 6:00 to 6:30 pm in the school all-purpose room.  The annual science fair is the culminating event in science for the graduating 8th grade class.  Students have been working on a scientific investigation of their own choosing since September.  Come and see the answers to such questions as:  “Is there radiation around us?”; “Are Dog Mouths Cleaner Than Human Mouths?”; “Which is Most Efficient: Wind or Solar Power?”; and “ Can a Compost Pile be Used to Heat Water?”  We hope to see you there!

Talent Show
Our Drama Club is sponsoring a Talent Show on the same night as the Science Fair, (back to back, so plan to spend a few hours with us on the 27th!).  The Talent Show starts at 7:00 pm in the gym.  Wait until you see the roster of talent!  There are a few funny surprises in store, too.

Weathersfield to Host Math Meet
On Tuesday, April 1st, we will be hosting the 4th Twin State Math League Junior Division Math Meet of the 2013-14 school year. Some 150 middle school mathletes and their coaches from 11 different Upper Valley schools will be joining us to compete in four math categories. For our part, we will be providing testing rooms, meeting places and refreshments for all participants. We’re looking forward to this opportunity to show off our beautiful school. There will be no Math Magic on April 1st.

Gym Floor – Let’s Keep It Lovely!
Please remember not to bring food or drinks, (water only), into our beautiful gym.  We have a very expensive gym floor that must be preserved.  Your cooperation in this important matter means so much!

Live Fit
Once again, Joni Robison will lead a FUN Live Fit assembly on Friday, March 28th in the gym for all students and staff.  This year we will run the assembly a little differently than last year.
  K - 4th graders  1:00 - 1:30 pm
  5th - 8th graders 1:40 - 2:10 pm
Please come along and join in on the fun! We are all looking forward to a GREAT workout with Joni once again!

Have a super vacation,

JeanMarie K. Oakman, WS Principal
