BURLINGTON, Vt. -
After the long winter, you might be itching to get
out for a good hike, but you'll have to stay off the trails until after
mud season.
Every year at this time, all hiking trails on state lands and those
managed by the Green Mountain Club are officially closed. Trails that
were snow packed for winter hiking and now turning wet and muddy are not
yet ready to handle summer traffic.
The closure is in effect until Memorial Day weekend.
