April
8 is Equal Pay Day. For every dollar paid to a man, a woman today is
paid about 77-81 cents.
This reality has major implications for women’s
ability to afford essentials like food,
housing and gas. It also has a tremendous impact on our economy because,
now more than ever, American families rely on the wages of women.
The
Labor Department is working to make it easier for women to learn about
the pay gap and take action to protect their rights.
