On Saturday April 12, 2014, at approximately 0800 Hours, the Windsor
Police Department was notified that 2 deceased dogs were laying on
interstate 91 between Exit 8 and 9. Windsor Police responded in
conjunction with Vermont State Police.
Two male Pitbulls were found
deceased at mile marker 57 over 8. The dogs had appeared to have been
killed prior to being thrown from a moving motor vehicle. Both dogs had
small caliber gunshot wounds to the facial area.
The owners contacted
the Windsor Police Department and identified the pit bulls as Dunkin
and Diesel, who were loved family pets. Diesel had a large amount of
scaring and may have been used in dog fighting.
The owners stated
that they let the dogs outside to play at approximately 4:30 pm the
previous night. It was highly unusual that the dogs did not return home
within a few hours and the family grew concerned. The family lives in
the county road area of Windsor, the dogs were dumped directly behind
the family’s house on the travel portion of the northbound lane of
interstate 91.
Anyone with information is asked to please contact Officer Ryan Palmer of the Windsor Police Department 802-295-9425
