Closer look at the upcoming pattern
01/18/2014
A
few days ago we posted a blog about the cold air coming into the
Northeast in the next few days. Now we are going to do a close up of the
temps and also a few snow chances over the next week and a half across
all of the Northeast.
Below is the EURO model showing just how much cold air is around and heading for the Northeast. Temps on this photo range from high 20's to below zero temps and those are the HIGH TEMPS for the day not the low. By Weatherbell

Once
again I'm using the EURO to show the temps, this one below is is the LOW
temps for Jan 22nd. The temps range from the Teens to -20's add some
wind and it will be very dangerous to be outdoors for long periods of
time.
The map
below is where we think snow will be falling over the next few days.
With the arctic air sliding southeast out of Canada there will be little
clipper lows with it. Now its not going to be heavy snow for everyone,
more of a light snowfall amounts 2"-4" but some areas could see 6"+ with
each clipper. At this time there are 3 clippers that will buzz through
the area and each will bring colder temps.
So we can
expect cold air to overcome the area and lock in place for awhile. At
this time we are thinking about 2 weeks of it. There are some chances of
a larger snow event during the time period but we will get to that once
the models agree with each other. Make sure to check back with us for
updates on the cold and snow!
