Report of another Phone Scam.

If you get contacted by Publishers Clearing House stating you won a large sum of money and asking you to wire money to them. DO NOT SEND MONEY.

The caller is obtaining information during the phone call that they can use to open various accounts and ultimately have a negative impact on your credit score.

If they ask for any part of your Social Security Number (generally they would ask for the whole number but now only are asking for the last 4 digits just like any financial institution is doing), Mother's Maiden name or Bank Account information in part or whole DO NOT GIVE OUT.

This is all they will need in order to ruin your credit.

  1. Https://www.callercenter.com/blg/articles/spoofing-caller-ids/ reveals how scam artists easily fake the phone number that appears on people's caller IDs. So remain vigilant when taking calls. Even if it says the IRS or any reputable agency or company, hang up if you feel the call is suspicious.
