According to Vermont State Law, all dogs must be licensed by April 1st in the town they reside in.
While renewing your dog's license is an annual occurrence, the number of
licensed dogs has dropped annually.
As part of the licensing process, residents do have to show proof their
dogs are vaccinated for rabies, and disclose whether they're spayed or
neutered. A tag will help locate your pet
in a worst case scenario.
When a stray dog is found without a license or even a microchip, they're
impounded for up to ten days.
This is not helpful. What does someone do if they have missed the deadline? What are the options?
