Sarah J. Gunzinger, 70

Perkinsville, Vt. —

Sarah J. Gunzinger, 70, passed away Saturday evening, April 11, 2015, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

She was born June 23, 1944, in Newport, N.H. the daughter of George and Laila (Anderson) Watling. She attended schools and graduated from Towle High School in Newport, and then from Katharine Gibbs School of Business in Boston, Mass.

She was employed as an Administrative Assistant for many years, working in N.H., Mass., and Vt., in the Banking and Development Industry, She was employed with Vermont Research in Springfield, Vt. for several years, and retired from Customized Structures in Claremont, N.H. after 21 years of service.

On Sept. 22, 1974, she married David E. Gunzinger in Brattleboro, Vt. He predeceased her on July 1, 2010.

Sarah was an avid golfer and an active member of the Newport Country Club in Newport, N.H. She enjoyed knitting and was an excellent knitter, making Irish Sweaters. She also loved cats and traveling.

She is survived by her sister, Christine “Tina” Newton and her husband, James of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two nephews, Mark Newton of Ventura, Calif. and James Newton Jr. of Superior, Colo.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 9. 2015, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Vt.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
