RUTLAND, Vt. -
Stormy weather that started Wednesday
night caused some flash flooding and knocked down trees and power lines. The
storms did the most damage
in the southern and eastern parts of Vermont.
At Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, wind toppled a
tree outside the Hawkins Center. There was some damage to the building.
Green Mountain Power says 27,000 customers lost power Wednesday night
and several schools in Orange, Rutland, Washington and Windsor counties
canceled classes Thursday as a result. At 6 p.m. Thursday, about 6,000
customers were still waiting to get their power back on.
