RUTLAND, Vt. - Stormy weather that started Wednesday night caused some flash flooding and knocked down trees and power lines. The storms did the most damage in the southern and eastern parts of Vermont.
At Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, wind toppled a tree outside the Hawkins Center. There was some damage to the building.

Green Mountain Power says 27,000 customers lost power Wednesday night and several schools in Orange, Rutland, Washington and Windsor counties canceled classes Thursday as a result. At 6 p.m. Thursday, about 6,000 customers were still waiting to get their power back on.
