Detectives Take Over Missing Woman Case


BRATTLEBORO, Vt. —The state's bureau of criminal investigation has taken over the case involving the search for a missing Vermont woman.
Helen Holmes, 59, of Townshend, Vt., was last seen Saturday. Police said Holmes has not reached out to family or friends since Friday.

Investigators said the case was opened after Holmes failed to show up for a scheduled appointment Saturday.

Searchers have combed the area near Holmes' house and other locations where she may be, but have not found any results.

Investigators also said there has been no activity on Holmes' cellphone, social media or financial accounts.

Holmes is believed to be driving a red 2010 Subaru Forester with Vermont plate DAK316.
Anyone with information about Holmes' whereabouts is asked to contact state police at 802-254-2382. Anonymous tips can be sent by texting "CRIMES" (274637) with the keyword "VTIPS," or online at vsp.vermont.gov.
