SPRINGFIELD —
Marguerite L. Torpey, 96, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Springfield Health & Rehab Center.
She was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Darien, Conn., the daughter of Joseph and Julia Lindt.
She graduated from Darien High School in 1935.
On May 2, 1942, she married Ernest Thomas Torpey in South Norwalk, Conn. He died in 1996.
Mrs. Torpey worked as a bank teller in Darien for many years.
In
Weathersfield, she was a member of the Congregational Church, the
Historical Society, and active in the Antique Show. She also volunteered
at Springfield Hospital, served as a justice of the peace and was a
member of the Red Hat Ladies.
Survivors include two children, E.
Thomas Torpey of Huntsville, Ala., Margaret Perry of Scotland, Conn.;
six grandsons and 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by five sisters.
The graveside service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
