VELCO sends 45-day advanced-notice package for the Connecticut River Valley Project

You are receiving this email because you joined the project update list for the Connecticut River Valley Project.

In August 2015, Vermont Electric Power Company (VELCO) is planning to request permission--a Certificate of Public Good--from the Vermont Public Service Board (PSB) to rebuild the transmission line connecting our Coolidge substation in Ludlow and Cavendish to our Ascutney substation in Weathersfield, and the associated upgrades to the Ascutney, Hartford and Chelsea substations. We refer to these upgrades as the Connecticut River Valley Project

Vermont state permitting process requires VELCO to provide notice to all affected communities and other stakeholders at least 45 days prior to a formal filing with the PSB. The process is governed by Public Service Board Rule 5.400, which can be viewed on the board's website here

VELCO sent the 45-day advance notice for the Connecticut River Valley Project to the towns of Ludlow, Cavendish, Weathersfield, Chelsea, and Hartford, and to landowners who share the right-of-way, on July 1, 2015. To view the full 45-day package, click here

VELCO held a series of public meetings in April and May, 2015, to share information, collect feedback and address concerns from affected communities. Before filing the Project with the PSB, VELCO intends to seek additional informal discussions to address concerns you may have about the impact of the Project. Please note that your regional planning commission and municipal legislative bodies can make recommendations, if any, to the PSB and to VELCO at least seven days before the petition is filed, or within the 45 days following the filing if the petition contains new or more detailed information than is contained in this notice.

For additional information regarding the PSB processes, including your right to participate in the proceeding, please refer to the"Guide to the Vermont Public Service Board's Section 248 Process" which can be found
here

As the Project is still in the design phase, we will continue discussions and expect to receive feedback on the Project from various stakeholders.
VELCO expects to make the formal filing with the PSB on August 27, 2015.
