The school board hopes you will join us at the community forum this coming Wednesday, July 22, at the school beginning at 6:30. The purpose of the forum is to provide all the information we can about Vermont's new state education law (Act 46) and to gather feedback from community members. We also hope to send out a survey as another means of gathering feedback. If you cannot make the meeting on Wednesday, we are planning another forum for August 10th.
Our eventual goal is to develop a plan in conjunction with the other
three towns in our SU that meets the spirit of the new law while also
being in the best interest of Weathersfield. If we can reach consensus
on what that plan should look like, then we will bring it forth to the
voters in March. The nice thing about this new law is that nothing can
happen, at least in the first couple of years, without the approval of
the voters in our town.
We know there are some things that are very important to Weathersfield such as local control, school choice, a reasonable budget, and of course a well rounded education. Any plan going forward will be built around that premise.
Hope to see you on Wednesday! Otherwise, at any time please feel free to contact me or any other board member via email or phone if you have concerns, questions, or ideas. We appreciate the opportunity to talk with you.
Sincerely,
Nate McKeen
Weathersfield School Board Chair
