Eileen L. Farnum, 76, a resident of Lovers Lane, passed away June 19, 2015 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.
Eileen was born in Keene, NH on June 12, 1939 the daughter of Theodore and Violet (Rollins) Smith and attended schools in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Eileen was a day care provider for many years and also cared for many foster children. In her later years she had a house cleaning business, taking care of many area homes. Eileen was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Manchester, was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed playing bingo. Eileen loved her home, dogs Daisey and Duke, flower gardening and spending time with her family.
Eileen is survived by her husband David Farnum of Peru whom she married in Cornish, NH on June 28, 1975, children David Farnum II and his wife Hannah of Weathersfield, VT, Charles Strobel, III and his partner, Melissa and their son Joshua, of Claremont, NH, John Strobel of St. Louis, Shane Strobel of Tampa, Debbie Beckley of Tampa and Carl Strobel of Indiana, siblings Francis Shaw and his wife Pauline of Fitchburg, MA, Russell Shaw and his wife Evelyn of California, Gertrude (Tiny) Thibadeau of Charlestown, NH, Joanne Morse and her husband Charles of Florida and Betty Gonyo and her husband Roger of Newport, NY, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside funeral services for Eileen will be held Saturday June 27, 2015 at 11am at the Peru Village Cemetery followed by a gathering at the Peru Town Hall.
