He writes that "The coming of the interstate highway system in Vermont in the late 1950s is arguably one of the most important geophysical changes to Vermont right along with the death of our small farm culture and the flood of 1927. This presentation will outline the structural features of the interstate system and its impact on Vermont."

Frank Bryan is Professer Emeritus of Political Science at UVM where he taught from 1977-2013. 

Prior to this he spent two years as chair of the Political Science Department at Montana State University in Bozeman. He taught Political Science at St. Michael’s College from 1968-1974 after receiving his BA from St. Michael’s, his  MA from  the University of Vermont and his doctorate from  the University of Connecticut. He is a graduate of Newbury (VT) High School (1959).  

Bryan is known throughout New England both as a humorist and a serious scholar.  In 2008 Marlboro College presented Bryan with an honorary doctorate on the occasion of his commencement address at the College.  Bryan is a former Golden Gloves boxer (Vermont and Connecticut) and rodeo bull rider (Montana).  His current interests include hunting, fishing, and trapping; oxen; stamp collecting; and poker.
