WEATHERSFIELD, VT Robert Brochu, 73, of Weathersfield, died at his home on December 4, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Janice and their grown children, Robert Brochu Jr., Eugene Brochu, Michael Brochu, and Karlyn (Brochu) Grant, ten grandchildren, his brother, Dr. Richard Brochu of Libertyville, IL and his mother-in-law, Maxine O’Brien of Weathersfield, VT and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Brochu. Bob was the son of Dr. Eugene and Mrs. Marian Brochu.

He was born in Danbury, Connecticut on December 22, 1939. He was a graduate of St. Joseph School in Danbury and Danbury High School, Class of 1957, where he was a celebrated athlete. He studied an additional year at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH. He went on to graduate from Lafayette College in Easton, PA. He was part of the ROTC program and then continued with service as an Army officer in Korea for two years. His lifelong business career was with the Factory Mutual Insurance Company (FM Global).

 Bob’s faith was foremost in his life and continued to influence his very essence. He and his wife Jan were active leaders in every church they joined. In Georgia, Bob was a founding member and CEO of Partners in Ministry. When he moved to Connecticut, he developed a home group program at his parish that is still in operation today. A lifelong learner, Bob was studying to become a deacon through St. Aidan’s Institute for Christian Formation and Leadership, where he also served as Business Manager.

He was a founding member of Grace Anglican Church in Newport, NH, where he served as Lay Pastor. Bob was the first Chair of the Standing Committee of the Anglican Diocese in New England. He was secretary of The Pregnancy Center in West Lebanon, NH. He also served as a member of the Newport Association of Churches.

A memorial service will be held at The Good Shepherd Methodist Church at 11 Park Street in Newport, NH on Saturday, December 14th at 11:00 AM. Contributions in Memory of Robert J.
