Police Report Seizing Heroin and Cash During Traffic Stop of Essex Junction Man

WEATHERSFIELD — Vermont State Police say they seized a small amount of heroin and more than $4,000 in cash following a traffic stop of a Chittenden County man on Interstate 91 in Weathersfield.

Jamal Walker, 37, of Essex Junction has been ordered to appear in Vermont Superior Court in White River Junction on Jan. 7 on a charge of possession of heroin, state police said.

The drugs and cash were uncovered by Patrol Sgt. Michael Studin after stopping the southbound 2006 blue Chevrolet Malibu for speeding about 2:40 p.m. Dec. 5, police said. Walker was about 50 miles from the Massachusetts border.

Lt. Tim Oliver said Walker had $4,080 with him.

Walker was arrested for possession of heroin. Police fingerprinted and photographed Walker and issued him a citation ordering him to appear in court. They also issued him a written warning for violation of interstate highway rules by speeding, Oliver said.
