Distracted Driving Penalties are Increasing in January - Vermont

Distracted driving penalties in Vermont are increasing in January. Do you think Vermont's distracted driving penalties are strict enough?

Here are the new penalties effective Jan 1. - A first offense for using a hand-held device in a work zone would result in a fine of $230 and 2 points on your license. A second offense carries a fine of $479 and 5 points.

First offense penalties for texting while driving will also be increasing from 2 to 5 points.
