Red Barn Bakery Cafe Closing August 29, 2015

Dear friends, some of you already know this, but most of you probably do not. The Red Barn, although being very busy, is not doing well financially. This is in part to do with skyrocketing food cost along with increasing overhead.

Over the past few months I have looked at every option available to us, and have met with various people to see what can be done. I have also spoken with a few business owners, one of which owned a chain of restaurants. Looking at our situation, everyone has come to the same conclusion and that is this: there is really no way to make enough money to support us, even with a very significant price increase.

We have dried up all available finances keeping this place open. We have also gone months without taking a paycheck, using money from other sources to pay our bills. In a few cases, the business was not able to hold itself up and we had to feed it some of our own money just to keep the doors open. We are completely devastated, and never thought we would see this happen. We are at the end of our available resources, and are facing the fact that we have to close the doors.

This is one of the most difficult things we have faced. It is not our decision to close the business, as we now do not have a choice. We would do this forever if we didn't need a paycheck. We love all of you, our customers (now our friends) and would not take this back (owning the Red Barn) for anything in the world.

That all being said, the Red Barn is going to be closing on August 29th, the end of this month. I thought it only fair to let you all know ahead of time rather than just suddenly closing. We will be giving our contact info to those of you who want it before we close.

After that, please know that you will ALL be greatly missed and that we would not be doing this unless it was absolutely necessary.

Please come down and continue enjoying meals with us for the remainder of the month. Stay tuned, as we MIGHT do something special for you all on our last day. I can't make any promises, but we are thinking about it. Thank you ALL so much for your continued support.
