4 -Day Heat Wave? Probably Not...

Inside The Forecast:

We made it an official heat wave by getting up to 90° for a high in Burlington on Wednesday. That was our 3rd day in a row of 90° or higher, and that means it was indeed a heat wave.

Now, can we extend that into a 4-day heat wave? Probably not. It will still be hot & humid today, but it looks like we'll come up a few degrees shy of that 90 degree mark.

One thing that will be different about today is the wind, which will be strong out of the south, ahead of a cold front that's approaching from the west.

That cold front will move through with rain & possible t-storms starting in the pre-dawn hours on Friday and continuing through the day, especially the first half of Friday.

Our forecast data has been flip-flopping on what happens to that front once it goes by. It looks like it wants to stall to our east, but just how far to our east will make a difference in our weekend weather. Right now, it looks like it will be far enough away that we'll get a decent day on Saturday, although there could be a few showers in our eastern areas. But on Sunday, the front actually backs up a bit in our direction, giving us a little better chance for a few showers.

Then a weakening cold front will come in from the west, and finally kick out that stalled front to our east, but also bring its own round of showers & t-storms, some of which could linger into early Tuesday. Then we'll clear out after that.

Enjoy(?) this last day of heat & humidity! -Gary
