Dates Set for Vermont River Cleanups

Recapping The 10th Annual Clackamas River Clean Up

Activities marking Vermont’s River Cleanup Month are being scheduled for September, and volunteers are needed to help out.

Watersheds United Vermont, a network of local watershed groups, is working with American Rivers and the Connecticut River Watershed Council to coordinate the statewide effort.

Locally, the cleanups include two on Sept. 12.

The first is scheduled for at 8 a.m. at Springfield Shopping Plaza on Chester Road in Springfield. For more information, contact Kelly Stettner at blackrivercleanup@yahoo.com or 802-738-0456.

The second is set for 9-11 a.m. at the Vermont Law School parking lot downstream of the South Royalton bridge.

Cleanups on the Connecticut River are set for Sept. 25 at 8 a.m. and Sept. 26 at 8 a.m., with the locations to be determined.
