She was born Nov. 19, 1934, in Weathersfield, the daughter of James F. and Doris A. (Parker) Mahoney. She attended Springfield schools, graduating from Springfield High School Class of 1952. She later earned an associate’s degree from CCV.
She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at National Survey in Chester, Vermont, Springfield Hospital and the law office of Fred Glover in Ludlow, Vermont, as well as several other small businesses in the area. She also taught typing and shorthand at the Community College of Vermont.
She enjoyed playing cribbage, crossword puzzles and introducing herself to new people. In her earlier years, she played on the Fellows Gear Shaper softball team with her sister and her father was the coach.
She is survived by four sons, Patrick M. Ankuda and his wife, Deborah, of Springfield, Vermont, Paul J. Ankuda of Boston, Massachusetts, Mark E. Ankuda of Springfield, Vermont and James A. Ankuda and his wife, Gemma, of Maple Shade, New Jersey; one sister, Kathryn “Kay” Predom and her husband, Frank, of Ludlow, Vermont; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; also by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and close friends,Yvonne Nadeau and Herb and Deb Monroe.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Doris Mahoney.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Vermont.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at St. Catherine’s Church in Charlestown. Rev. John Loughnane will officiate.
Burial will be at the Plain Cemetery in Perkinsville at a later date.
Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Vermont, is assisting the family with arrangements.
