Ascutney Water System Construction Update

On Wednesday night, May 6th, water to all users of the Ascutney Fire District water system was shut off at 9:00 PM until 6:00 AM Thursday morning.
The purpose of the shutdown was to enable the contractor working on the water system to replace the valves and meters within the water storage and pumping building. This work may only be accomplished if the water is shut off to the entire system.
Unfortunately, two of the main valves within the water system could not be closed sufficiently to prevent the water currently in the system from draining back to the storage and pumping building. It was therefore not possible to perform any of the valve and meter work.
We will need to schedule a new date to perform the work. This will involve shutting the system down again from 9:00 PM until 6:00 AM. As soon as a new date has been chosen for this work, we will mail notice to all water customers, post notice on the town website (weathersfieldvt.org), and post notice on the sandwich board sign in front of Martin Memorial Hall.
We regret the inconvenience that these shutdowns cause all users.
Please do not hesitate to contact Fire District Manager Jim Mullen should you have any questions or concerns: townmanager@weathersfield.org, 802.674.2626 (office), or 802.230.6262 (cell).
