Light Snow, Bitter Cold, then Heavy Snow and Blizzard Conditions - Where's the Love, Mother Nature?

Inside The Forecast:
A clipper system will scoot through today with on-and-off light snow, amounting to about 1-3" of accumulation by day's end for most of us. There could be a bit more in some of the higher elevations.

Once this clipper goes by, it will intensify off the coast. Earlier in the week, it looked like this might hit the Boston area again with heavy snow and wind, but now it looks like it will strengthen too far to the east, so Boston will dodge a bullet this time.

The bigger deal with the strengthening of this system will be the strong northerly winds that it will produce on the back side. Those winds will bring bitterly cold air in here starting tonight. The cold air will last through the weekend and into the start of next week.

Another fast-moving clipper will come at us on Saturday, again with some light, accumulating snow. There will be a slight rise in the temperatures on Saturday for Valentine's Day. Once again, as this system goes by, it will intensify.

But this one will really "bomb out" into a major storm along the coast. It will indeed hit the Boston area, and up along the Maine coast, with heavy snow and blizzard conditions.

We will just be on the fringe of this storm, but the winds will really be howling out of the north for us on Sunday, and that will bring dangerously cold wind chills again, right into the first part of Monday. At least there will be a lot of sunshine on Monday, and the wind will settle down late in the day.
And then, we are keeping our eyes on yet another possible coastal storm that could bring us some accumulating snow late Tuesday into Wednesday.

You'll have to count on warm thoughts on Valentine's Day to keep you cozy, because there will be no love from Mother Nature! -Gary
