Thelma Alex, 95

Thelma Alex, 95, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, in Brattleboro.

She was born Aug. 23, 1920, in Springfield, the daughter of Edlor and Anna (Brady) Jarvis. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1939.

On Oct. 5, 1943, she married Frank J. Alex. He predeceased her in 1980.

Mrs. Alex was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed knitting, traveling, participating with many Senior Center activities and singing with the Senior Songsters.

Survivors include four daughters, Julie Strasser of Burbank, Calif., Marjorie Ellis of Weathersfield, Mary Alex of Hillsboro, N.H., and Linda Copans of Boston, Mass.; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Alfred and Richard, and sister, Mildred.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield. The Rev. Peter Williams, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Springfield.
