Windsor County Sex Offender Registry Compliance Checks Conducted

On the evening of October 30, 2015, law enforcement conducted Sex Offender Registry compliance checks throughout Windsor County.

The compliance checks were coordinated by with the Windsor County Special Investigations Unit. 

Windsor County law enforcement and probation officers attempted to conduct approximately 103 address and conditions compliance checks on sex offenders registered with the Vermont Sex Offender Registry. 

Vermont Title 13 VSA 5415 designates the Special Investigations Units to be responsible for the investigation of violations of the Vermont Sex Offender Registry requirements and are authorized to conduct in person registry compliance checks in a time, place, and manner they deem appropriate to accomplish the purposes of the statute. 

Agencies that took part in the evening’s county wide operation were: Chester Police, Hartford Probation & Parole, Hartford Police, Ludlow Police, Norwich Police, Royalton Police, Springfield Probation & Parole, Springfield Police, U.S. Marshal’s Service, Vermont State Police, Vermont Sex Offender Registry, Weathersfield Police, Windsor Police, Windsor Special Investigation Unit and Woodstock Police

At this time the final numbers of compliance or violations have not been tallied. A majority of, but not all, of the 103 checks were completed on this evening and the remainder follow up checks will take place during the next few days.

An updated media release will be submitted once the final numbers have been calculated by the Windsor County SIU.
