Weathersfield News, Week of June 9, 2014

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, what a beautiful weekend we had!

We held a baby shower for our eldest daughter last Saturday. Lots of ooohs' and aaaahhhs' at all the little outfits and gifts! How exciting the next few weeks are going to be preparing for the little one :)  I have had the honor and privilege of attending doctors visits and ultrasounds! It's magical seeing those hands and feet and hearing the heart beating. I'm getting so excited, I can hardly wait!

My husband and I also attended my sister, Sue, and brother-in-law, Dan's, 20th wedding anniversary, vow renewal last weekend! It's shaping up to be a very busy month.

Lots of things happening around town.

The Ascutney Volunteer Fire Department is hosting it's annual Yard Sale on June 13 and 14, Early Morning to Late Afternoon - Donations welcome (no clothing or electronics, please). Call 674-6869 to arrange for your donation drop off. The location of the Fire Station is on Route 5, right next to the I-91 park and ride.

Four Winds Nature Program at Weathersfield School is looking for Volunteers for Next Year!  Parents, grandparents or community members - We really need a few more folks!
It's a great program that teaches hands on science to our K-4 classes. It requires you to attend a two hour training the first Wednesday morning of each month during the school year and then to teach the material in one class some other time during the month (another 1-2 hours). They teach you everything you need to know! It's really fun and the kids just love it. Please help out!
If you are interested in finding out more or volunteering, please contact Susan Hindinger (shindinger@tds.net).
If this isn't the thing for you, please forward it along to other Weathersfield residents you know!! You never know who might love to get involved this way!

Writing and Publishing Books For Children: A Workshop with author Kathleen Kudlinski will be held at the Weathersfield Proctor Library on Friday, June 20th from 10:00 am - Noon.

Come learn what and how to write for children. Tips and tricks from Kathleen Kudlinski, the author of 40 books including, Boy Were We Wrong About Dinosaurs!  Bring pencil, paper and dreams. Light refreshments will be served. For more information please visit http://www.kathleenkudlinski.com, call 802-674-2863 or email weathersfieldproctorlibrary@gmail.com. The Weathersfield Proctor Library is located at 5181 Route 5 Ascutney, VT 05030.

Enjoy the sunshine. I'm working this week on getting the garden planted. Have lots of plants, just need some time to play in the dirt and the tractor tire to be fixed :(  So far, that hasn't happened yet. I need to get these plants in the ground before they start producing vegetables!!!

I have been working hard on cleaning the yard and going for horse back rides!  It's great to be back in the saddle again. I'm exhausted at the end of every day, but loving the things I am doing.
