WEATHERSFIELD - Kenneth A. Phillips, 81, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Springfield Hospital.
He
was born June 9, 1933, in Warwick, R.I., the son of Wendall and
Florence (McGregor) Phillips. He attended schools and graduated from
high school in Rhode Island.
He served in the U.S. Army in Korea.
He
was employed as a supervisor with American Tourister Luggage in Warren,
RI, for many years, and later worked for Copeland Furniture
Manufacturing.
He enjoyed gardening, and hunting and fishing.
Mr. Phillips was a member of the V.F.W. Post 771 in Springfield and a member of the American Legion Post in Windsor.
He
is survived by his companion, Lillian Arguien; two sons, Kenneth
Phillips of Springfield and Shawn Phillips of Virginia; four daughters,
Katherine Phillips of Florida, Judith Phillips of Cranston, R.I.,
Heather Kaplan of Scituate, R.I., and Courtney Hung of Massachusett; a
sister, Judith Haggerty of Falmouth, Mass.; nine grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Richard.
A
graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Friday,
Oct. 10, 2014, at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph Center.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
