SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — Police are actively seeking the driver of a stolen pickup truck who was involved in a chase across state lines Tuesday morning.
According to Springfield Police Chief Doug Johnston, a black pickup truck with black rims and Massachusetts plates was stolen from the Exit 7 rest stop near the Circle K convenience store sometime between 6 and 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Johnston said the truck was later spotted in New Hampshire, where police initiated a pursuit that led back into Springfield and up Route 5 before turning onto Route 143. He said police discontinued the pursuit due to excessive speeds. The truck was last seen heading toward Weathersfield.
Police are working with the vehicle’s owner and are reviewing video surveillance footage from the rest stop.
“They have an idea who’s responsible for stealing it,” Johnston said.
Anyone who has seen a vehicle matching the above description can call the Springfield Police Department at (802) 885-2113.
