Weathersfield Proctor Library May and June Happenings

May and June
Happenings at Your Library

Well it is finally spring - maybe?  The lilacs in front of the library are in bud and the grass is green.

You may see a new face at the library when you come in.  Jordan Hutchinson, our new Youth Services Librarian has been busy with morning story time,  a once-a-month writing group for kids age 12 and up called "Whetstone Writers" and a  Mother's Day Craft project on Thursday May 8th from 3:00 - 4:00 pm.

The library has recently added many new movies including many  Academy Award nominated movies to the collection:  Captain Phillips, Gravity, Blue Jasmine, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, 12 Years a Slave, Catching Fire, American Hustle, All is Lost, Dallas Buyers Club, Saving Mr Banks, Nebraska, August Osage County, Philomena, The Butler, Enough Said

Library Expansion Project Update

On April 8, 2014, Ernie Shand, Library Board Chair; Jim Mullen, Town Manager; Steve Melanson, Library Building Committee and Nancy Tusinski, Library Director met with Ralph Nimitz, of NBF Architects, of Rutland, VT to discuss the possibility of cost savings for the building project.

Several items were addressed such as replacing the current plan for a standing seam metal roof to a laminate shingle that would more closely resemble the existing historic slate roof and be more energy efficient.   The Library Board will be reviewing all proposed cost saving measures once a proposal is received from Mr Nimitz. The footprint of the building will remain the same.

At the April 17, 2014 Library Board of Trustees meeting, the board voted to collect voter signatures for a Petition to have a Bond Resolution for the August 26, 2014 Vermont Primary Election Day.  The petition should be available the beginning of June and 125 signatures will be needed.

The Board of Library Trustees meets at the library on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. All meetings are open to the public.
