Kenneth Spaulding, 90

WEATHERSFIELD, VT

 Kenneth Spaulding, 90, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

He was born January 25, 1925 in Ludlow, VT a son of Ervin and Laura (Hoadley) Spaulding.

Kenneth grew up in Ludlow and attended the local school. He went on to serve in the Army during WWII upon his return he went to work at Jewel Brook Woolen Mill where he met the love of his life Ina May Stevens. They were married on March 2, 1945. They lived in Proctorsville, VT for a time later moving to Brattleboro, VT where he worked for Peoples Bus Lines, Holden Martin Lumber Company, and as a farmhand. They moved to Weston, VT where he worked at the Weston Priory. They moved to Chester, VT and Kenneth went to work for the State of Vermont Highway Department he took a transfer and they moved to Reading, VT. Kenneth left the State Highway Department for a time to work for the Town of Windsor Water Department. Later returned to the State Highway Department to finish his career.

Kenneth was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved to go Square Dancing on Saturday nights with his wife. But what he loved most was spending time with his family.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Ina; a brother, Charles E. Spaulding; and two sisters Doris Morris and Dorothy Crosby.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Spaulding and his wife Margaret of Ascutney, VT, Ronald Spaulding and his wife, Debbie of Hartford, VT; two daughters Christine Packard and her life partner Gerry of Norwich, VT, Sheila Woodward and her husband, George “Woody” of Myrtle Beach, SC; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday June 2 from 6-8PM at the Knight Funeral home in Windsor, VT.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held Friday, June 5, at 10AM in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney, VT.
