Ascutney, Vt. — Gerald L.
“Jerry” Russell, 72, a longtime resident of Ascutney, passed away
Tuesday afternoon, May 12, 2015, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical
Center in Lebanon, N.H.
He was born Aug. 31, 1942, in Montpelier, Vt.,
the son of Herbert and Evelyn (Verney) Russell. He attended grade
school in Flagstaff, Ariz., and Weathersfield, Vt. He graduated from
Springfield High School in 1960. He married Prudence Stillson in
Ascutney on June 23, 1962. Mr. Russell went on to become an accomplished
Journeyman Electrician and was employed by Hamblet Electric in Keene,
N.H., for over twenty years until his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, listening to bagpipes,
family barbecues and playing horseshoes. He was fond of his cat, “Angel”
and his granddog, “Daisy”.
He was predeceased by his parents, an infant daughter Julie Russell in 1966, and one brother, Kenneth Russell.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years,
Prudence S. Russell of Ascutney; two sons, Michael J. Russell and his
wife, Susan of Ascutney, and Jay H. Russell and his wife, Tina of
Auburn, Maine; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Zachary, Grace, Abby,
Elly, and Cullen Russell and Julie Russell-Emond; three
great-grandchildren, Landon Decouteau, Adrianna Ried and Zander Emond;
two brothers, William Russell of Castro Valley, Calif., and Donald
Russell of Parma, Idaho; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including,
Janice Cook of Bedford, N.H., and Shirley Chevalier of Colchester, Vt.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening, May 17
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. The
funeral service will be held Monday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at the funeral
home. The Rev. William Sheldon will officiate.
Committal services will
follow in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney. A reception for family
and friends will follow at the Martin Memorial Hall in Ascutney.

the VNA of NH and VT at 1 Hospital Court, Bellows Falls, VT 05101-1489 or to the charity of one’s choice.
