SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On August 25, 2015 the Springfield Rite-Aid was burglarized & Citizen's Bank ATM in the Plaza was excessively damaged by numerous subjects.

Investigation into these incidents resulted in 3 burglaries of Downer's Four Comers store, an attempted Burglary of Irving N. Springfield, the Burglary of Jake's South Street Market, the Burglary of Rite-Aid and the Vandalism of the Citizen's Bank ATM being solved.

With the assistance of State Police and Weathersfield PD, items were recovered and information was provided that resulted in identifying 6 alleged subjects being involved in one or more of the 7 crimes (that occurred in the Springfield/Weathersfield areas).

This defendant was cited into Vermont Superior Court for their alleged involvement in 2 of the Downer's Four Corners store burglaries, the Rite-Aid burglary, the Jake's South Street Market Burglary, the attempted burglary of the N.Springfield Irving and the vandalism of Citizen's Bank ATM.

Lawrence C. Moore, 84

PERKINSVILLE, VT

Lawrence C. Moore, 84, a longtime resident of Perkinsville, passed away Sunday, December 27 at his home in Perkinsville.

He was born February 1, 1931 in Bellows Falls, VT the son of Clifton William and Alicia (Flynn) Moore. He received his schooling in Cambridgeport, VT and left school at a young age to help on the family farm in Perkinsville. He married Ruth Stillson in Ascutney, VT on October 4, 1951 and resided in Perkinsville for most of their married life.

Lawrence owned and operated farms on the Gulf Road in Amsden then the farm on Route 106 in Amsden from the 1950’s into the 1990’s. Lawrence also purchased his parents farm on Route 131 after their passing in the 1980’s.

Lawrence and Ruth owned and operated the School Bus fleet for Weathersfield from 1950 until the Town of Weathersfield decided to own and operate the school buses in 1976. In the mid 1980’s Lawrence returned to the school bus business as a driver for the Town of Weathersfield until his retirement in 2015.


Mr. and Mrs. Moore also ran a general store in Amsden and the former Texaco Station at Downer’s Four Corners.

He was a member of the Moose Club and Elks Lodge, both in Springfield, VT. He greatly enjoyed family camping trips to Northern Vermont and Maine. He was honored by the Town of Weathersfield with the Weathersfield Service Award in 2010.

Mrs. Moore passed away on September 3, 2012. Lawrence was also predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Reginald Moore, Stanley Moore and James Moore.

Survivors include two sons, Richard L. Moore and his wife, Donna of Chichester, NH and David T. Moore and his wife, Karen of Weathersfield, VT, three grandchildren, Jason Moore of Concord, NH, Kelly Moore of Kittery, ME and Stacy Moore of Portland, ME, two great granddaughters, Allyson Moore of Concord, NH and Vera Wolstat of Kittery, ME, one brother, Francis “Bee” Moore of Ascutney, VT, two sisters, Mary Gramling of Alabama and Glennis Jacobs of Perkinsville, many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, January 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 9 at 11:00 AM at the Brownsville Community Methodist Church in West Windsor with the Rev. Christian Huebner, Pastor, officiating.

A reception for family and friends will follow in the church hall. Committal services will be held in the spring in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the West Weathersfield Volunteer Fire Department, Route 131, Perkinsville, VT 05151.

DISCOVERY OF HUMAN REMAINS IN GOSHEN

 

Goshen VT - The Vermont State Police is currently investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains located off the edge of Gap Road in the town of Goshen, VT. The discovery occurred at approximately 1254 hours on Tuesday 12/22/15 by citizens who were in the area.  The Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team (CSST) is currently processing the scene at this location.  The remains will be brought to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for Identification and examination of remains.  

UPDATE

On December 24, 2015 the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner positively identified the human skeletal remains located in the town of Goshen, VT as that of Denise Hart.  

Evidence was located and collected at the scene and the death of Denise Hart has been ruled a homicide.      

 The investigation is ongoing.  No further information is available at this time.

SEARCH FOR DENISE HART
August 18, 2015

Today's water and ground search for Denise Hart has ended. Evidence was collected and will be analyzed as part of the on-going investigation into Denise Hart's disappearance. Investigators will not be able to comment further on what was found or where. A large area of the Otter Creek and surrounding shore area was searched, from Leicester through Cornwall. The 20 searchers were comprised from the Vermont State Police Scuba Team, Marine Division, Search and Rescue Division, and K-9 units. Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department wardens also participated.

The Vermont State Police would like to reiterate that this is an on-going investigation and search into the disappearance of Denise Hart, and welcome any information that the public may have. Today, the Vermont State engaged in a water and ground search in the ongoing effort to locate missing person Denise Hart. (Original press release attached). 20 searchers from the Vermont State Police and Vermont Fish & Wildlife were deployed in and along the Otter Creek in Leicester, Sudbury, and Cornwall. Below are statements made to media at the location where Hart's burned-out car was discovered in February, near the covered bridge on Swamp Road in Cornwall.

At this time there are no updates to the investigation.

To the State of Vermont: PLEASE! Anybody with information about the disappearance of Denise Hart, can you please come forth? We know somebody out there knows something. Her family and friends are missing her desperately. She has missed so much. She has two brand-new nephews she hasn't even met yet, and she's missed her nieces and nephews birthdays. Her own son 4th birthday is coming up in a few days and she is not home. We don't have any answers. It has been almost 8 long hard desperate months. We just want some answers - please! If anybody knows or has seen anything please say something. Thanks you. Her son needs her mother back.

VSP STATEMENT issued by Captain JP Sinclair:

The Vermont State Police continue to investigate the case of missing person Denise Hart (age 24). Hart was last seen leaving the residence of a friend in the town of Sudbury, VT during the evening hours of Sunday, January 25th, 2015. Detectives with the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation became aware that Hart was missing on the night of January 31, 2015. Since that time, a team of detectives has been continuously investigating the circumstances of Hart's disappearance.

As part of the ongoing investigation, a search of the Otter Creek will be conducted today, Tuesday, August 18th.

This area has a significance to this investigation. The vehicle Denise Hart was last seen operating, prior to her disappearance, was recovered in this location. Evidence has been collected in this area and we return today to take advantage of certain conditions that provide investigators new opportunities to identify and collect evidence. The water level in the Otter Creek is at its lowest point since Hart was reported missing. This search will take advantage of these conditions and afford ground search teams the opportunity to access areas adjacent to the creek that previously have been unsearchable.

The Vermont State Police and the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife have a number of different resources for both a water and ground search on and around the Otter Creek. Search teams will reconnoiter this area throughout the day as part of this missing person investigation.

The significance of this area is based on information gained in the investigation thus far. Denise Hart had daily contact with her family, who have not heard from her since her disappearance. Foul play is suspected in Denise Hart's disappearance.

Sheryl A. Mears

Weathersfield, Vt. — Sheryl A. Mears, 64, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2016 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

She was born July 16, 1951 in Newport, Vt., a daughter of James N. and Mildred W. (Porter) Graves. 

Sheryl grew up in Holland, Vt. and it was there one summer that she met Carl A. Mears of Bethel who was there working for the summer. Carl and Sheryl were married in 1968 in Colebrook, N.H., and together gradually made their way to Weathersfield where they have lived for over 40 years. Upon moving to the area Sheryl worked for the Holson Company in Claremont, N.H. 

Sheryl will be remembered as a kind, warm hearted, loving person who welcomed anyone into her home and gave without ever expecting anything in return. She loved racing, fishing, camping, singing, making birthday cakes for her family, attending her grandchildren’s games and spoiling them, but she was most fond of having her family around her.

Sheryl was predeceased by both of her parents and is survived by her husband Carl of Weathersfield; three daughters and their spouses, Sarah & Larry Riendeau of Ascutney, Vt., Tracey & Ryan Welch and Carlene & Matt Streeter both of Springfield, Vt.; a brother James Graves of Holland, Vt.; three sisters Sandra Carter of Granby, Conn., Linda Bowen of Arizona and Angela Gray of Debry, Vt.; four grandchildren Brian, Christopher, Kayla & Katrina; four great-grandchildren Kam, Anna, Preston & Nathan and her beloved dogs Goodyear & Diesel.

Family and friends may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m.

It will reopen at its new location, the old Perkinsville Elementary School, now called the 1879 Perkinsville Schoolhouse.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
State Police in Rockingham have completed the investigation of numerous thefts and burglaries in the towns of Rockingham, Andover, Ludlow, Cavendish, Weathersfield, Springfield and West Windsor.

State Police worked with Police Departments in Chester, Springfield, Weathersfield, Ludlow, Newport, NH, and the New Hampshire State Police.

 Investigation determined David Farnsworth and his son, Michael Farnsworth allegedly drove to numerous locations throughout several towns in Windham and Windsor Counties during the day throughout the months of October and November to steal property. The property was then allegedly sold to support their heroin addictions.

Zachary McNeill allegedly also accompanied them on several occasions. Joshua Congdon allegedly committed one burglary with Michael Farnsworth. With cooperation, many stolen items were located to return to the owners.

There are also further charges from the Springfield and Chester Police Departments.

 Michael Farnsworth was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor County, Criminal Division on 12/29/15 for Burglary (14 counts), Possession/Selling Stolen Property (10 counts), Petit Larceny (2 counts) and Unlawful Mischief (7 counts). He was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham County, Criminal Division on 01/12/16 for Burglary (5 counts), Possession/Selling Stolen Property (4 counts) and Petit Larceny (1 count).

David Farnsworth was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor County, Criminal Division on 12/29/15 for Burglary (13 counts), Possession/Selling Stolen Property (6 counts) and Petit Larceny (2 counts). He was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham County, Criminal Division on 01/12/16 for Burglary (5 counts), Possession/Selling Stolen Property (3 counts) and Petit Larceny (1 count).

Zachary McNeill was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor County, Criminal Division on 12/29/15 for Burglary (6 counts) and Petit Larceny (2 counts). He was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham County, Criminal Division on 01/12/16 for Burglary (1 count).

Joshua Congdon was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor County, Criminal Division on 01/19/16 for Burglary (1 count).

Requirements

            Limited to native wildlife (animals, birds, or insects)

            Limited to amateur photographers

Must be photographed locally (within 50 mile radius)

One submission per person, must be on an 8 x 10 glossy.

There will be three places. Judging will be done by 3 interested persons.

Submitted photos can be dropped off at the Weathersfield Town Office in an envelope plainly marked Conservation Commission photo contest. There is a drop box at the Town office for after hours. 

The following information needs to be included with the photo: Name, address, phone number, E-mail address, and where photo was taken.

Submission is implied consent Town can duplicate the photo in their annual report.

Winning photos will be mounted and framed, then displayed for one year at either town office, library, or school, then returned to owner.

Submission deadline February 15^th, 2016.

Resumption of E-waste Collection

On November 3, 2015, the Weathersfield Transfer Station suspended collection of electronic waste until such time as the state resumed providing disposal services.  

We have been notified by the state that effective immediately, we may resume collection of electronic waste.  

Accordingly, electronic waste may now be dropped off free of charge at the Weathersfield Transfer Station.

Holiday Welcome for Mark Richardson at Weathersfield Proctor Library
