Weathersfield, Vt. — Lynn Marie
Skalaban, 68, a resident of Weathersfield, passed away Wednesday
morning, August 12, 2015, at her home in Weathersfield, surrounded by
her husband of 49 years, Peter; and their daughter, Alexis.
She was born June 29, 1947, in New Brunswick,
N.J., the daughter of Walter and Gladys (Hoover) Korsak. She lived in
East Brunswick, N.J., where she graduated from East Brunswick High
School in 1965. Her childhood was greatly influenced by her loving
grandmother “Nana” Hoover and her Aunt Bernice (Hoover) Kobezak. She
started her career working as an Accounting Assistant at the New
Brunswick Trust Company and the County of Middlesex.
Lynn moved with her family to Vermont in 1972,
where she has resided ever since. Her professional career continued in
Vermont where she worked for the National Census Bureau as an Employment
Analyst and Interviewer. Most recently she was elected to the position
of Zoning Administrator for the Town of Weathersfield; a position that
she held for over seventeen years until her retirement.
On the non-professional side, Lynn had many
interests that were deeply rooted in her love of her adopted home in
Weathersfield. She was a Big Sister with Big Brothers and Sisters,
active in the local Democratic Party where she served as a regional
delegate, and active member of the League of Women’s Voters, and was
elected and served multiple terms on the Weathersfield School Board.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Skalaban,
Sr., of Weathersfield; one daughter, Alexis Skalaban, of Weathersfield;
one son, Peter Skalaban, Jr., of Reston, Virg.; two grandsons, Zachary
and James Skalaban, of Reston; her stepmother, Joan Korsak, of
Spotswood, N.J.; one sister, Susan Kafka, of East Brunswick; five
brothers, Andrew Rice, of East Brunswick, Barry Korsak, of Monroe, N.J.,
Wally Korsak, of Spotswood, N.J., Brian Korsak of Spotswood and Daniel
Korsak, of Sacramento, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.
Lynn touched many lives and earned the highest respect from all. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
At her request a memorial service will be held at a later date.
The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor assisted with
the arrangements.
Condolences may be expressed to her family in an
