SPRINGFIELD - Richard C. Chadwick, 83, formerly of Perkinsville and
Brandon, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at his home.
He was born June 4, 1931, in Framingham, Mass., the son of Clyde and
Ethel (Barrows) Chadwick.
He graduated in 1949 from Springfield High School.
Mr. Chadwick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean era, stationed
in Germany.
He was employed with Vermont Foundry for 22 years, Lucas Pattern Shop
in Springfield for 22 years, Springfield Hospital in maintenance and
later worked at Ames Department Store in Springfield, retiring in 2000.
He was a lifetime member and former master of Hawks Mountain Grange, a
member of the National Grange, VFW Post 771 in Springfield, Chester
American Legion Post 67, and a past member of the Springfield Moose
Lodge.
Mr. Chadwick enjoyed word search puzzles, playing cribbage, dancing,
playing bingo and singing karaoke. He was a member of the Plaza Bowling
League and the Precision Valley Squares. He was known as a practical
joker and an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan.
Survivors include two children, Jeffrey Chadwick of Springfield and
Barbara DeLorme of Fair Haven; his caregiver, Wren Smith of
Springfield; two sisters, Gladys Blew and Barbara Graham, both of
Alfred, Maine; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his ex-wife, Janice Claflin, in 2000.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 1, at the
Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, at which time peanut butter
donations for the local food shelf are encouraged.
Burial will be at a later date in Plain Cemetery in Perkinsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American
Cancer Society , PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
