Caller claims to be from power company

Police are warning about a scam from someone claiming to be from Green Mountain Power.
Burlington police say someone received a call requesting credit card information because they were told their account was overdue. They knew it was a fake since they don't use GMP.
Green Mountain Power verified that they have had an ongoing issues like this regarding fraudulent phone calls.
Police remind everyone to verify the company before providing any personal information.
