Ascutney, Vt. — Herbert Harry
Harford, Sr., 86 of Route 131 in Ascutney, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014,
at the Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, Vt.
He was born in South Londonderry, Vt. on March
16, 1928, the son of Harry Herbert and Mabel (Reynolds) Harford. He
graduated from Windsor High School in 1948.
On July 1, 1956, he married Patricia Lenora
Dow. After their honeymoon in Ottawa, Canada, they made their home in
Ascutney on Route 131.
He worked for the railroad for 16 years and was a product coordinator for Idlenot Dairy for 33 years.
He was a member of the Grand Commandery of
Vermont 1985 – 1986, in the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of Vermont
in 1998 – 1999, and the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Vermont in 1999 –
2000.
The surviving family includes five children,
Dianne Waters and her husband, John of Reading, Vt., Karen Wheeler and
her husband, Buzz of Readsboro, Vt., David Harford of Ascutney and Ross
Harford and his wife, Judy of Claremont and Gregg Harford of California;
13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
three sisters, Alice Greene and Margaret Harford both of Windsor and
Maxine Wright of White River Junction, Vt.; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife on Sept. 29, 2004; a son, Herbert H. Harford, Jr. in 1991; and a sister, Louise Harford in 2005.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mt.
Ascutney Hospital for the great care and friendship they showed dad and
the family and his special person, Ann.
A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, Main Street in Windsor on Saturday, June 21 at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow in Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.
A time of fellowship and sharing will be held after the services in the church hall.
