CLAREMONT, N.H. - Virginia Mae Butterfield, 92, formerly of
Weatherfield Bow, VT, died Monday morning, January 12, 2015, at Elm
Wood Center in Claremont, NH.
She was born in Weathersfield Bow, VT, on December 27, 1922, the
daughter of Walter Joseph and Lucy May (Randall) Butterfield.
Ginny had attended the Bow School and graduated from Stevens High
School in the Class of 1941.
She had worked at the Old Sullivan, Joy Manufacturing, General Motors
Acceptance Corporation and at Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company
in Hartford, CT for 35 years as the disability claims examiner.
Ginny was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
She lived with relatives in Windsor, CT, and had always kept her
residence in Weathersfield Bow, VT, where she returned to live in 1988.
In 1947, she became a member of the Claremont Beta Sigma Phi
International Sorority, while in CT she was a member of the Hartford
Chapter, in 1988, she returned to the Claremont Chapter. While in CT,
she belonged to the First Congregational Church in Windsor, CT; in
Vermont she was a member of the Weathersfield Bow Community Association
and the Weathersfield Historical Association.
Ginny enjoyed reading, traveling, taking bus trips, collecting
antiques, playing cards, was fond of animals, especially house cats.
The family includes several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by five brothers, Floyd, Claude, Clarence, Philip
and Melvin Butterfield; two sisters, Muriel Chamberlain and Ida Annie
Butterfield.
Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad
Street in Claremont on Saturday, January 17th from 9-11 a.m..
Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor
Harold Noyes, officiating.
Burial will be held in the spring in the Weathersfield Bow Cemetery.
