From the structure fire in Ascutney tonight. Smoke still pouring out of the old farm house at this time.
Strange to me that with that many firetrucks on site, nobody was directing traffic! 131 was only one lane with all the parked rigs, blinding/flashing lights from every direction, and my husband had to crawl through in his work van without any support at all, even from a trooper sitting in his patrol car. I've had this same problem trying to get past other fires in the Weathersfield area... seems like we could use some organization around here!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was coming home from work at 11:25, traveling east on 131, there was a fire department member turning vehicles around and redirecting them at the Wheeler Camp Road pullout.
DeleteWhich direction were you traveling and what time was it?
I had the exact same problem. It was around 1030 pm for me and no one was directing traffic and I had no idea what to do. If theres time for all those trucks to get there then there is time to set up road blocks so people dont get stuck trying to go around only to have a truck start coming down your lane the opposite way and having to back up the lenght of ten trucks. It dangerous and I was scared.
ReplyDeleteIt was scary to come around the corner with all those lights and trucks. I don't do well with strobe lights, so glad I got turned around before having to pick my way through them.
