Town manager Ed Morris has big plans for Weathersfield. Mark your calendars and plan to attend the inaugural Weathersfield Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 24.
From 8 am - 2 pm, look for yard sale signs all over town. Residents can register and pick up advertising kits at the town office for $5 or reserve their space at the community yard sale at Hoisington Field for $10.
Maps with participants’ addresses will be available at the Town Hall, Library and Hoisington Field where you’ll also find a Farmers Market and Silent Auction to benefit 1879 Perkinsville Schoolhouse. Space is still available to anyone wanting to participate in the Farmers Market, which can be reserved for $10 at the Weathersfield Town Hall.
Over at the West Weathersfield Volunteer Fire Department station, you’ll find a craft fair plus hamburgers and hot dogs for sale, and at Proctor Library, you won’t want to miss the Book Sale. The Bow Baptist Church will give tours of their historic building, and have some fun waiting for the kids. Up on Weathersfield Center Road, the Dan Foster House will be open to the public from 9 am - 2 pm. This is a great opportunity to step back into time. You’ll find everything from antique children’s toys to farm tools, to a hearse, antique sugaring tools and equipment to clothing and historic documents.
From 10 am until they run out of food, the Weathersfield Veteran’s Memorial Committee will hold it’s annual Chicken BBQ at Martin Memorial Hall.
To bring everyone together at the end of a full day, Morris is planning a Community Festival at Weathersfield School off Route 5. From 5 pm - 7:30 pm, there will be free live music compliments of EXIT 9 band and dinner will be available for purchase. Morris and his small organizing committee is looking for non-profits and charities that want to get involved in the dinner.
“It will be a great way for local groups to raise money,” he said. “We plan to make The Weathersfield Fall Festival an annual event where locals and visitors can come together."
