Patricia A. Matulonis, 67, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, surrounded by her
family.
She was born Aug. 18, 1948, in Springfield, the daughter of Roland and
Irene (Lorinovich ) Carlisle. She graduated from Springfield High
School, class of 1965, and from North Hampton Commercial College, class
of 1967.
She worked for a brief time at Mass Mutual Insurance in Springfield,
Mass.
On July 15, 1967, she married Gregory Matulonis at United Methodist
Church in Springfield. They made their home in Springfield for many
years before moving to Perkinsville, where they lived for 17 years.
Mrs. Matulonis was a stay-at-home mother until her children reached
school age. She then began 35 years of service to the Springfield school
system, starting as a para-educator, then as secretary to the principal
of Union St. School, then as secretary at Park Street School until her
retirement in 2008.
She mentored several children and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and
RSVP.
She was a member of First Congregational Church UCC in Springfield. She
enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gregory; her sons Jeffrey
and Michael; three grandchildren; a sister, Diane Temple; and several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, Roland and Irene Carlisle; and her
brother, Richard Carlisle.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Davis
Memorial Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at the
First Congregational Church UCC on Main St. in Springfield. The Rev.
Jean O’Bresky will officiate.
A reception will follow the service downstairs at the church.
