Karen Yvette Barr, 63

Karen Yvette Barr, age 63, was born in Cambridgeshire England, the eldest of 4 children born to Leon "Shorty" Barr and Dorothy "Joan" Barr of Proctorsville Vermont. She passed away Sunday evening at her home after several years of successfully managing heart health.

Many came to know her charismatic personality through her long term employment as a Waitress at Idlenot Restaurant in the Springfield Plaza, which later became Friendly's. Later she worked at Downers Four Corner Store. Four wheeling, snowmobiling, sun worshipper, winter flip-flop wearer, elegant penmanship and a certain "spot on the hill" were just a few of her joys. She brightened everyones doorway she graced with deep character, genuine love and spunk. Like her Great Grandmother Emma C. Barr, she was made of strong character and fierce love.

She is survived by many friends and family who loved her deeply. Including her mother Dorothy "Joan" Barr, David Moore, her partner of 20 years, and her two daughters Heidi Adams and Melanie (Snide) LeBlanc. 8 Grandchildren, and 1 Great Grandson. Her 3 siblings, Elaine (Barr) Stocker, Julie Barr and Tom Barr. As well as nieces, nephews and cousins from Ludlow, to Woodstock, to Newport New Hampshire.

Calling hours will be at the Knights Funeral Home in Windsor VT Friday, May 5, 2017 from 6pm to 8pm.

Services will be held at the Brownsville Church on Saturday May 6th @ 11a.m, with a downstairs potluck to follow.

Her ashes will be laid to rest at the Ascutneyville Cemetery at a later date, followed by a small private Red Dress Memorial Ceremony at "the spot on the hill" near their residence.

Donations in her memory may be made to the West Weathersfield Fire Department.

Summer Is Here - Is There A Dog In The Car?

The Police are now saying if you see a dog locked in a car in hot weather, take a picture of the dog and the car.

If someone is with you, get them to bring up the weather for your area on their phone so you can screen shot the temp, then break the car window.

This way, you will not be charged with criminal damage and it gives the police photo evidence to take the dog owners to court.

This is good information to prevent this cruel act from happening!

Summer is coming! 🐶🐕

Very important as we head into summer!

Computer Virus Scam Seen In Vermont - Use Caution! Drains Bank Accounts

Happenings in and around Springfield VT
*Please pass this info onto anyone who may fall victim to this scam.

Best thing to remember is to never open any emails or click on links that you are unsure of....

Sometimes these scammers will hack your friends/family email accounts and send out a virus through an email you know, usually there is a link to click on, best thing to do is contact the person who sent it and see if it was something they sent, if not, delete it right away.

BUT even if you do get a virus, most likely it can be removed BUT not from someone on the phone or in a chat window online who ask for you money.

Contact a local computer repair shop or get a a friend to help you*

The victim may be asked to reveal bank account information, in which case their funds may be taken, police said.

Victims should call the police and seek a reputable computer specialist to clean their computer.
